  • THE BEE GUY:

Mid May to Mid July

The Time when Everything needs doing yesterday!:

This is when we start getting fields ready, and then the rush to get them planted.

We are not even done planting yet- but then we are cultivating to keep the weeds down. During June, we are catching the Swarms of bees coming from our hives, to start new hives...

Almost everything we are going to eat or grow for sale, must be planted right now!. The seedlings to be started are in the green house early during this time of year, then taken later to plant. The little chicks, and later also turkeys for sale or for our winter dinners have to have pens moved every day, and must receive food and water regularly. This is when we mow and bale the first cuttings of hay, and pack it away in the barn for winter. This is the time, that when you visit, you come, to pitch in and work up a sweat from sunrise to sunset, the only redeeming feature being, that when there are maybe three families, this work becomes a great game, instead of such hard work. This is a great time to learn about the work ethic, that most of our poor deprived public school students might never see. It is the time when you see first hand the harder work that a former generation lived with during the summer months. A time when you learn more, faster then you ever dreamed you could.

It is also a time when our dependance on God is most obvious. We depend upon him for safety, for  strength, and for the crops to grow, and yes with this project you are sharing in, we depend upon Him to give us wisdom so you do not go home disappointed.

Consider this time of year

This is also a time when we start ot harvest fresh vegetables, so you have a chance to not only eat them, but for the children to take part in picking, and selling them on the farm stand day by day, giving the little salesman in your life some real live math experiance.

A time when children will enjoy going out in the evening to catch fireflys, and all will enjoy listening to God's special choir of insects, frogs, toads, and others who sing most all night. This choir continues on through the summer until the cold keeps them quiet.

This is indeed an exciting time.
